Making a screen shot is very useful for web design and other communication.
There are several ways of doing it.
Here is a process that is known to work on all windows based computers:
Arrange the screen to show the windows and other dialogs you need in your picture.
Press the print screen button, usually in the upper right of the keyboard.
Right click in the directory you want your picture in
Choose NEW and then Bitmap Image
Rename the picture to something descriptive, such as directoryscreenshot.bmp
Right click on the picture, choose EDIT
The picture should open in Paint
Go to the edit menu and paste your image
Your whole computer screen will show up in the paint document, the whole image will be selected.
Change from the selection tool to any other tool to unselect the picture
Go back to the rectangular select tool.
Select the part of the image that you want in your final image.
Copy the selection
Close without saving
Edit the document again and paste the cropped image into it.
Save the file.
To get a JPG, you should choose save as, and for file type, choose jpg
Now you have a custom screenshot of something on your computer.
You can use this image as a picture on a web page, upload it to flickr, picasa or do other fun things with it.
